history

In 1844 the carpenter Karl Stolzer founded the company in Achern, Baden-Württemberg as a "mechanical workshop". The company initially manufactured water wheels , looms , paper and milling machines , among other things . Later Stolzer also devoted himself to building sawmills and sawmills .

The invention of the hacksaw machine in 1947 marked Kasto's decisive step towards becoming a modern machine tool manufacturer. In the 1960s, circular sawing machines added to the range. With the entry into series and mass cut production, Kasto also recognized the need to mechanize long goods storage and material handling. At the beginning of the 1970s, the company presented the first fully automatic long goods store . Integrated into it were two circular sawing machines that were supplied by automatic material magazines. This was the preliminary stage for the first combined storage and sawing centers, which Kasto manufactured from 1980.

In 2014 the company celebrated its 170th anniversary. Armin Stolzer has been running the family business in the fifth generation for more than 25 years and has now also brought the sixth to the company.
