Katarina Kresal

Katarina Kresal (born January 28, 1973 in Ljubljana ) is a Slovenian lawyer and politician . From June 2007 until the clear electoral defeat of her party in December 2011, she was the chairwoman of the Liberal Democracy of Slovenia (LDS) and since November 2008 she has been Minister of the Interior of the Republic of Slovenia in the coalition government led by Prime Minister Borut Pahor .

In 2010, Kresal faced two motions of censure over allegations of corruption, both of which she survived. According to a report by the anti-corruption authority, in which a lack of transparency was found in the award of the contract to a personal friend of Kresal's renting a building for the Slovenian secret service, she resigned "irrevocably" on August 10, 2011.
