Kateryna Oleksandriwna Kalytko ( Ukrainian Катерина Олександрівна Калитко ; born March 8, 1982 in Vinnytsia , Ukrainian SSR ) is a Ukrainian writer and translator.

biography

After finishing school in Vinnytsia, she studied political science and journalism at the Kyiv Mohyla Academy from 1999 to 2005 . Since then she has lived and worked in Vinnytsia and Sarajevo .

Like many other Ukrainian authors, Kateryna Kalytko initially started writing poems, which she was able to publish in numerous Ukrainian literary journals and anthologies from the late 1990s. In 2000 she became a member of the National Association of Writers of Ukraine . She received more than half a dozen awards for the texts she wrote during her studies. In 2006 her long story "M.isteria" was published. Since 2008 she has been translating Bosnian-Herzegovinian authors. The first excerpts from works appeared on their website and in Ukrainian literary magazines. In 2012 and 2014 her translations by Melina Kamerić and Miljenko Jergović were published . In 2017 her volume with nine scary stories was published in Lviv : "Land of the Lost".

Participation in literary festivals, nominations and further feedback

Kalytko took part in literary festivals in Ukraine - the largest within the framework of the Lviv Book Forum, the short story festival “Intermezzo” in Vinnytsia, and at the Frankfurt Book Fair in 2017 and 2018.

Kalytko's texts have been translated into Russian, Polish, Armenian, English, German and Hebrew.
