use
Power generation
Even before the dam was built in 1979, there was Lake Oschenik, at that time with a volume of 11 million cubic meters. When the Fragant River was dammed by a stone dam , the volume of the lake increased to 33 million cubic meters.
leisure
The region around the lake is popular with hikers , motorcyclists and, above all, cyclists . As part of the construction work for the dam, the Kärntner Elektrizitätswerke KELAG built a narrow road to the top of the dam. This is used by many cyclists today to cycle from Innerfragant at 965 meters to Lake Oschenik at 2394 meters. The average gradient is 11%.
