The Cathedral of Our Lady of Victories ( English Our Lady of Victories Cathedral , French Cathédrale Notre-Dame-des-Victoires ) or Yaoundé Cathedral for short is a Roman Catholic church in the center of the Cameroon capital Yaoundé . The church building, erected in 1952, is the cathedral of the Archdiocese of Yaounde . It is located near the post office.

The Apostolic Vicar François-Xavier Vogt, who was still born in the German Empire and originally from Alsace , expressed his wish in the middle of World War II to build a shrine dedicated to Our Lady Mary if the French colony of Cameroon at the time was not damaged by this conflict should emerge. However, he died in 1943, two years before the end of the war. Réné Graffin, first Archbishop of Yaoundé, laid the foundation stone for this building on March 4, 1952.

The cathedral church, consecrated in 1955, has not been fully completed after 50 years of laying the foundation stone. Nevertheless, it has a remarkable architecture for many viewers. It is designed for 5000 believers, its interior has the shape of a cross.
