history

The chapel is a three-bay building with a semicircular end and a gable roof. Wall pilasters and arched windows structure the building. The barrel vault is provided with stitch caps. A ridge turret with a pointed helmet carries a bell. The rococo-style altar, probably created around 1826, contains a Pietà Madonna. Originally there was a statue of John there, which was replaced by the current Madonna in 1924. This, in turn, was previously in the right side altar of the parish church from 1875 . The choir arch crucifix is a Rococo work from around 1750. Noteworthy are the Stations of the Cross from 1826, which were renovated in 2006/2007 by the church painter Sebastian von Zülow.

In 2004 the association “Bodenmaiser Geschichte und Kulturdenkmäler” installed four historical death boards under the porch of the chapel , which were set up in the Klause district until 1970. They are reminiscent of the death boards that were set up along the cemetery wall until the 1920s.
