Yanjing Catholic Church
The Catholic Church of Yanjing ( Chinese 盐井 天主教堂 , Pinyin Yánjǐng Tiānzhǔjiàotáng ) is located in the village of Shangyanjing (上 盐井 村) ("Upper Salt Well ") of the Yanjing parish of the Naxi in Markam County of the city of Qamdo in the far east of the Tibet Autonomous Region in the People's Republic of China .
It is the only Catholic Church in Tibet . It was founded in 1865 by Félix Biet (1838–1901) and Auguste Desgodins (1826–1913), French missionaries of the Paris Mission .
It is built in Tibetan style, the interior is influenced by Europe. The original European style church was destroyed by a 1999 earthquake during the Cultural Revolution, a church built in 1985. Construction of the new church began in 2001.
