Yanjing (Markam)

The "community Yanjing der Naxi " ( Chinese  盐井 纳西族 乡 , Pinyin Yánjǐng Nàxīzú Xiāng ) is a nationality community in Markam County of the city of Qamdo in the Tibet Autonomous Region of the People's Republic of China . Yanjing has an area of ​​374.88 km² and 4072 inhabitants (2000 census). Much of the 4,382 Naxi counted in the Markam County census in 2000 live in Yanjing.

economy

Yanjing (literally translated: "salt well") lives mainly from agriculture. The special features include the cultivation of grapes and the production of wine , the walnut tree plantations , the cultivation of matsutake and the distilling of caterpillar mushroom schnapps . Added to this is the salt production and the “Gaga noodles from Yanjing” (盐井 加加 面), popular in Yunnan and Tibet.

Attractions

The Catholic Church of Yanjing is the only Catholic church in the whole of Tibet.

Administrative structure

Yanjing is made up of four villages. These are:

  • Naxi village (纳西 村), center, seat of the municipal government;
  • Gyada village (加达 村);
  • Jomlung village (角 龙 村);
  • Shangyanjing Village (上 盐井 村).
