Catholic People's Party (Poland)

The Catholic People's Party ( KVP ) was a party of the German minority in the Second Polish Republic from 1921 to 1939. In 1927 the party name was changed to German Catholic People's Party ( DKV ) and on August 27, 1933 to Christian German People's Party ( CDV ).

The KVP was founded on December 27, 1921 as the successor to the center . She represented bourgeois and conservative positions in the center. As a party organ, it published the “Oberschlesischen Kurier” . The chairman was Thomas Szczeponik from 1921 to 1927 and Eduard Pant from 1927 to 1938 . The party disbanded in 1939.

National elections

For the elections to the Sejm and Senate , the German party ran in 1922 and 1928 on a joint list of the bloc of national minorities (BNM). In 1922 the party was able to provide 3 Sejm deputies and a senator. In 1928 there were also 3 Sejm members and a senator. In 1930 the DP joined the German electoral bloc and received two seats in the Sejm and one in the Senate.
