History and Buildings

The Catholic cemetery was laid out after the cemetery around the soul chapel was closed in 1804 and has preserved a number of tombs from the 19th century. At the cemetery wall on Gottesackerweg there is a rectangular chapel with a west tower, which was built between 1814 and 1817. Inside the chapel there are still benches, the stalls and the altar from the time it was built. The altar is surmounted by a historical confessional cross from 1460, which is said to come from the Franciscan convent of St. Anna , which was demolished in 1865 . The tower in its current form has been around since 1839; at that time it was enlarged and equipped with two bells. In 1926 the architect Andor Ákos redesigned the cemetery chapel.

The fountain in front of the funeral hall , which was built in 1862, dates from the 19th century. There are other wells in the cemetery area.

The war memorial chapel on the southern wall of the cemetery was designed by the Kempten architect Andor Ákos in 1926. The funeral hall was replaced in 1992 by a new building with a new hall. The northern wall at Adenauerring was completed in 1992.
