The Katholische Kreisbildungswerk Freising e. V. (KBW) is an educational center for family and adult education founded in September 1971. The Bildungswerk offers a program of events in the areas of upbringing, religion and belief, social affairs, politics, but also health and culture, as well as the historically oriented senior course in Freising. The district education center is housed in the former St. Clara children's home and orphanage , which is a listed building.

The circular building is housed in a stately, three-storey hipped roof building with a mezzanine and a richly structured facade. The building was built around 1890 in the neo-renaissance style and is a listed building.

In 1888 the building was given a Lourdes grotto . The chapel-like place of worship was built from stacked rubble stones.

The Katholisches Kreisbildungswerk is a state-recognized and funded institution within the meaning of the “Law for the Promotion of Adult Education” (EbFöG) in Bavaria and recognized as a non-profit organization. It is also a member of the Catholic Adult Education Working Group in the Archdiocese of Munich and Freising (KEB) and the Catholic State Working Group for Adult Education in Bavaria (KEB-Bavaria). It has been located in the historic building of the former St. Klara children's home since 2006. The 1st chairman of the Catholic district education organization has been Dieter Thalhammer since 2012 .

The Bildungswerk is also the sponsor of the Freising Parent-Child Program (EKP) and the family education center, the Family Center with the Parents School Freising. The Freising day care center, which was also founded in 1993, was spun off into a non-profit GmbH in 2013, the sole shareholder of which is the Freising District Education Center.

The center of the family is the family education center for the city and district of Freising under the umbrella of the Catholic district education organization Freising. Within the family center, the Parent School Freising takes care of parents-to-be and life with a newborn baby. There are offers from childbirth preparation to postpartum care by midwives, postnatal training courses and information and counseling offers for parents. Around 300 one-part and multi-part courses and seminars are held in the family center every year. It is about the preparation for parenthood and life with the child. Several courses and lectures deal with the health of parents and children. There are musical and creative offers and self-help groups. The range of topics is covered with lectures, discussion and advanced training events.

The project “wellcome - practical help for families” has existed since 2012. wellcome supports and relieves parents through voluntary helpers in the first months after the birth in looking after the baby, the siblings. In the center of the family, educational specialists, psychologists and therapists work with midwives, with gymnastics teachers, with medical and physiotherapeutic experts and parent-child group leaders. With parent-child groups in the municipalities of the district, the parent-child program (EKP) of the district education center also creates space for encounters and support for young families under the guidance and support of the EKP group leaders.

Parents who live or work in Freising or are doing an apprenticeship can find a qualified daycare center via the daycare center. In the city of Freising, the Freising childcare center is the specialist agency for the placement of child minders and for their training and further education and professional support. Every childminder who works with the childcare center has an official care permit and the necessary training courses.

The day care center organize day care for parents and day parents. Child day care is an eligible form of child care in Bavaria. The day care center Freising GmbH is also responsible for the day care "Glückskinder". This is a company childcare project that was initiated together with the Technical University of Munich, the Fraunhofer Institute for Process Engineering and Packaging (IVV) and petaFuel GmbH.
