Kathrin Eberl-Ruf

Kathrin Eberl-Ruf (* 1962 ) is a German musicologist and professor of musicology.

Life

Eberl-Ruf studied musicology from 1981 to 1987 at the Martin Luther University in Halle-Wittenberg and from 1983 to 1985 at the church music school in Halle and graduated with a diploma. From 1987 to 1990 she completed a research course and received her doctorate on the subject of "On the development of electroacoustic music in the GDR with special consideration of compositional design methods". From 1987 to 1990 she had a teaching position at the special class for music in Halle, which at the time was a branch of the "Felix Mendelssohn Bartholdy" University of Music and Theater in Leipzig. From 1990 to 1995 she worked as a research assistant and from 1995 to 2008 as a research assistant at the Institute for Music, Department of Musicology, University of Halle. In 2008 Eberl-Ruf completed his habilitation on the subject of “Music and civic awareness. Investigations into the position and function of the urban musician in the late 18th and early 19th centuries ”and received the Venia legendi . From 2008 to 2012 she worked as a private lecturer at the Institute for Music, Department of Musicology, of the Martin Luther University Halle-Wittenberg. Since 2012 he has held an extraordinary professorship for musicology at the University of Halle-Wittenberg. She is married to the musicologist Wolfgang Ruf .
