Kathy Lueders
Kathryn (Kathy) Lueders is an American engineer and manager. Lueders is the first woman in NASA history to head NASA's human spaceflight program in the position of Associate Administrator of the Human Exploration and Operations (HEO) Mission Directorate . Prior to her appointment in June 2020, she led NASA's Commercial Crew Program .
Live and act
Lueders received her Bachelor of Business Administration in Finance from the University of New Mexico . She also holds a BS in Industrial Engineering from New Mexico State University .
In 1992 she started working at NASA in the propulsion laboratory of the White Sands Test Facility. At the time, she was only the second woman to work there. She was depot manager of the space shuttle program Orbital Maneuvering Systems and Reaction Control Systems . She then held several senior positions in the International Space Station program office at NASA's Lyndon B. Johnson Space Center in Houston , Texas . Among other things, she was responsible for the first manned flight of a rocket from the private company SpaceX to the International Space Station ISS in May 2020 . In her new role, she will implement NASa's plan to bring the first woman and the next man to the moon by 2024.
