Kati Kovács (born October 25, 1944 in Verpelét , Hungary ) is a Hungarian singer and actress who was one of the most popular interpreters in the GDR in the 1970s .

Kovács initially worked as a dental assistant and began studying jazz music at the Budapest Conservatory . In 1965 she won a Hungarian song competition and received her first recording contract. At first she appeared both as a singer and as an actress in numerous Hungarian films. She won the Hungarian Schlager Festival in 1966 and 1972. In 1972 she also won the Schlager Festival in Dresden . At that time she presented one of her greatest hits, Wind come, bring rain . In the following years she recorded records in different languages ​​from the fields of pop , rock and disco , so she was able to book successes in the United Kingdom and Japan . Since the late 1970s, her publications have focused again on her home country, where she still performs today.
