The Katina P was a Greek-owned oil tanker flying the Maltese flag.

The tanker was on the route from Venezuela to the Persian Gulf with approximately 72,000 tons of heavy fuel oil on board when it suffered structural damage in a storm. It was aground on April 19, 1992 a few nautical miles off the coast, about 40 km north of Maputo , Mozambique . A tug pulled the ship again into deep water, but where it sank. There was massive environmental damage.
