from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Katrin Heinze - married Katrin Franke - (born September 18, 1968 ) is a German table tennis player . She was one of the best players in the GDR in the 1980s and won the last GDR championship in doubles in 1990.

Career

At the national championships of the GDR Heinze won the double competition together with Anke Heinig in 1988, 1989 and 1990. She played in the club BSG Lokomotive Leipzig-Mitte, with whose women's team she was GDR team champion five times in a row from 1986 to 1990.

Since the GDR isolated itself internationally in table tennis from 1972 as a result of the competitive sports decision, Katrin Heinze had no opportunity to make an international profile.

After the turnaround, Heinze first played with the Reinickendorfer Füchsen (1991-1993) in the 2nd Bundesliga. From 1993 to 1998 she was active at SV Dresden-Mitte 1950, after which she moved to TTC 1956 Colditz in the major league . Here she still plays today under her married name Katrin Franke .

In 2010 Franke and Anke Heinig won the doubles title at the German Senior Championships in Berlin.
