Katrin Kroemer

Katrin Kroemer (born January 12, 1960 in Herne ) is a German journalist and association official. She is editor-in-chief of TOP Magazin Ruhr, lecturer at the Westphalian University of Gelsenkirchen and since 2015 treasurer of the German Association of Journalists (DJV).

Education / profession

She learned her journalistic craft in a traineeship at Soester Anzeiger (1978 to 1980), then she was an editor in the local editorial office in Lippstadt. From 1981 to 1988 she studied pedagogy and journalism in Dortmund with a degree in pedagogy (1986) and a preliminary diploma in journalism (1987). In addition, she worked as a freelancer for Soester Anzeiger / Westfälische Rundschau Dortmund. From 1988, Kroemer was a local editor at the Westfälische Rundschau , first in the local weather department, then until it was hired in 2013 at the Westfälische Rundschau in Dortmund. She then worked as a freelance journalist / presenter and is editor-in-chief of Top Magazin Ruhr. She is also a lecturer at the Westphalian University of Gelsenkirchen in the JPR course.

Professional engagement / volunteering

  • Since 1980 member of the DJV (Landesverband NRW), from 1980 to 1988 specialist committee for training and further education
  • 1981 to 1983 as well as 1989 to 2003 and since 2013 member of the state board of North Rhine-Westphalia
  • In 1990, as a member of the daily newspaper training commission, involved in the conclusion of the first collective training agreement with the BDZV
  • In 2015 she was first elected treasurer to the DJV federal board, confirmed in office in 2017 and 2019
  • Since 2016 seconded to the ZDF television council , member of the program committee for editor-in-chief and of the finance-investment-technology committee
  • since 2018 member of the ARTE program advisory board Germany
  • since 2019 board member of the New Society for Journalism Education, Journalist Center Herne
