Katsura Hoshino ( Japanese 星野 桂 , Hoshino Katsura ; born April 21, 1980 in Shiga Prefecture , Japan ) is a Japanese manga artist .

Life

Hoshino made her debut as a professional illustrator in 2002 with the short story zone , which appeared in the manga magazine Akamaru Jump . In Shōnen Jump , the best-selling manga magazine, she published the short story Continue the following year .

Since June 2004 she has been working for Shōnen Jump on her first manga series, D.Gray-man , which already comprises 26 anthologies (as of 2014) and was a great success. It was produced as an anime television series and translated into several languages. The first eleven paperback editions sold over 9.5 million copies in Japan. The fantasy manga takes place in an alternative Europe of the late 19th century and focuses on the exorcist Allen Walker .

Her mangas are aimed primarily at a male target group in their youth and can therefore be assigned to the Shōnen genre.
