Katy Jarzebowski

Katherine Sonia Jarzebowski (born July 17, 1984 ) is an American composer .

Life

Kathy Jarzebowski is of Polish descent. She grew up in a musical family in Southington , Connecticut . Her grandparents, a violinist and a piano player, encouraged her musical training at an early age. She started playing several instruments and took part in youth composition competitions. From 2003 to 2006, she studied music and film studies at Yale University . She successfully completed her master's degree in film composition from 2012 to 2014 at New York University . During this time she received an Elmer Bernstein Award for her music .

Upon graduation, she found a job with the Film Music & Sound Design Lab at Skywalker Sound and composed several pieces of music for short films. In 2015 she made her debut with her music for the comedy Jilted, directed by Virginia Crawford, and the drama Aram, directed by Christopher Chambers , Aram as a composer for a feature film.
