Koenigsberg Commercial Association

from Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

The Königsberg commercial association was founded in 1858 by respected Königsberg merchants .

The first chairman was H. Brausewetter from Schienemann & Brausewetter . His deputy was the banker Adolph Samter . Later the Holldack city council took over the management of the company from Holldack & Thran (legumes).

Initially, the Kneiphöfische Junkerhof served as a club bar . Then the Artus Court was bought, a building on the Königsberg Cathedral . When the membership rose to 1,000, the house became too small and sold to the city in 1924. The association moved its office to the stock exchange , and its festivals to the town hall since 1912 . In 1933, the association had to rename itself to “Lecture Group Börsenhalle in the Reichswerk Buch und Volk”. It was merged with the old Börsenhalle company and the Bach Association. It existed in this form until 1945.
