Caucusology
Caucasus Studies is a linguistic and regional science that deals with the language, culture, way of life and history of the population of the Caucasus , especially with the three language families that are summarized as Caucasian languages . The area that only deals with the South Caucasian or Kartwelian language family , which is particularly common in Georgia , is called "Kartwelology".
Currently (2015) the subject of Caucasus Studies in Germany is only offered at the Friedrich Schiller University Jena as a BA supplementary subject and as a master’s course based on it . Special knowledge of the Caucasus region is imparted in an individually supervised course.
Literature on the subject ( special collection area of the Middle East / North Africa) was collected at the Tübingen University Library until 1997, and at the Halle (Saale) University and State Library since 1998 . The virtual library provides access to the Middle East MENALIB (Middle East Virtual Library).
