AB Kauno tiltai is the largest Lithuanian highway construction company . It is based in Kaunas . "Kauno tiltai" employs around 800 people (around 1000 between 2006 and 2011), including 200 engineers. In 2012 the company achieved sales of 423.124 million litas (122.5 million euros) and in 2016 around 130.32 million euros and a profit of 10.53 million euros.

Since April 2011 "Kauno tiltai" has been part of the infrastructure construction group " Trakcja-Tiltra " in Poland . The main shareholder of “Trakcja-Tiltra” is “ Comsa Emte ”, the eighth largest construction company in Spain .

Areas of activity are: road construction, bridges and overpasses ( viaducts ), port construction , airport construction, railroad construction, tunnel construction, network construction in the energy industry, landfill construction . Every year the company has up to 300 different projects in Lithuania. It has its own certified laboratory for quality assurance.

history

In 1949 the company "Kelių statybos rajonas No. 1" was founded. It was the first building organization in the system of the Ministry of Transport of Lithuania . The company had only 10 construction machines and 160 employees. In 1956 the company built the first bridge in Jonava (over the Neris River ).

In June 2018, the workers of "Kauno tiltai" found a treasure (749 coins from the 16th century) worth 40,650 euros in Laisvės alėja . The company waived the statutory remuneration of over 10,000 euros. The medieval coins (some made in 1567 , 1569, 1570) were given to the National Čiurlionis Museum in Kaunas.
