Kaus Borealis ( Arabic قوس, DMG Qaūs  'bow' and Latin borealis, "north"), Bayer name Lambda Sagittarii , is a star in the constellation Sagittarius . Lambda Sagittarii has an apparent magnitude of 2.8 mag and belongs to the spectral class K0; its distance is just under 80 light years . As ekliptiknaher star he can from the moon and (rarely) by planets covered are. The last occultation by a planet took place on November 19, 1984 by Venus, the penultimate on December 5, 1865 by Mercury.
