Kay Nelson

Kay Nelson , née Bushard, was an American costume designer. In 1950 she was nominated for an Oscar for her costumes in the comedy The Love Professor ( Mother Is a Freshman ) in the category "Best Costumes in a Color Film" , but Leah Rhodes , Travilla and Marjorie Best had to go first for the cloak-and-sword -Film Leave the love affairs of Don Juan .

After Nelson was responsible for the costumes for the film comedy Up in Mabel's Room for the first time in 1944 , she created costumes for works such as Mortal Sin (1945), which belongs to the genre of film noir , the film drama Boomerang (Boomerang!) Over the next 17 years . (1947) directed by Elia Kazan , the Christmas film The Miracle of Manhattan (1947) with the then nine-year-old Natalie Wood and the literary film adaptation Tabu der Rigechten . In 1949 Nelson was responsible for the costumes in Joseph L. Mankiewicz's literary adaptation A Letter to Three Women (1949). She delivered her last work in the British film drama Branded .

Kay Nelson was married to 20th Century Fox art director Lyle R. Wheeler from 1947 to 1954 .
