The most widely spoken language is isiXhosa . The term Kayamandi comes from this language and means "comfortable home" ( ikhaya - "home"; mnandi - "sweet", "pleasant").

Kayamandi is known for the fact that volunteers from all over the world are sent to various projects (kindergarten, elementary school, high school) in the township for a limited period of time with the help of various organizations.
