Cape Winelands (completely Cape Winelands District Municipality , Afrikaans : Kaapse Wynlande-distriksmunisipaliteit ; formerly Boland District Municipality , afrikaans: Boland-distriksmunisipaliteit ) is a district within the Western Cape Province in South Africa . The district has 787,490 inhabitants (as of October 2011) on a total area of 21,473 km² . District administration is based in Worcester .

Conservation and Tourism
Since 2007 is part of the area as a UNESCO - Biosphere Reserve , as part of the Cape Floral Kingdom , reported.
A part of the territory, consisting of some valleys around the towns of Paarl , Stellenbosch and Franschhoek is a wine region or rarely Winelands (Cape Winelands) for its viticulture particularly well known and not touristy. This is where most of the South African wine routes are located .
