Langeberg is a municipality in the Cape Winelands district , Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 97,724 on a total area of ​​3,332 km². The seat of the local government is Ashton .

The community is named after the Langeberg mountain range . The community was called until 2009 Breede River / Winelands, after the Breede River and the use of the area in viticulture .
