Breede Valley ( Afrikaans : Breedevallei ) is a municipality in the Cape Winelands district , Western Cape Province in South Africa . In 2011 the population was 166,825 on a total area of ​​2,994 km². The seat of the local government is Worcester .

The community is named after the Afrikaans word for "broad". The Breede River also flows in the “wide valley” .
