history

KazakhGold Group started production in 2005 after the mines and other facilities were renovated.

Due to the global economic crisis , sales during the 2008 fiscal year collapsed by more than two-thirds from US $ 177 million in 2007 to US $ 54 million.

In mid-2009 it was announced that KazakhGold and the Russian company Polyus Gold, which by then already owned 50.1 percent of Kazakhgold shares , will merge . The two companies will then operate under the new name Polyus Gold International. The merger of the two companies is a technical maneuver by Polyus Gold, which hopes that it will result in higher liquidity and the removal of trading restrictions. In the course of the merger, Kazakhgold adopted the same corporate design as Polyus Gold.
