Poljus Gold ( Russian По́люс Зо́лото / Poljus Soloto ) is the leading Russian mining and metallurgy company in the field of gold mining . The company headquarters are in Moscow . The company is listed in the RTS Index on the stock exchange and is a subsidiary of MMC Norilsk Nickel .

Company history

The company was founded in 1980 by Hasret Medschidowitsch Sowmen and began mining in the Olympiad gold field. The Lensoloto company from the Bodaibo region (founded in 1921 through the nationalization of over 400 gold producers in Siberia) became part of Polyus Gold in 2003.

In 2004 the Matrosow gold mine in the Natalka region was opened. A side effect of this was an increase in employees from 2,800 to 9,700 in just one year.
