Kazimierz Ajdukiewicz
Kazimierz Jósef Stanislaw Ajdukiewicz (born December 12, 1890 in Tarnopol , then Austria-Hungary , † April 12, 1963 in Warsaw ) was a Polish philosopher and logician from the Lemberg-Warsaw School .
life and work
Ajdukiewicz studied philosophy , physics and mathematics at the University of Lemberg and received his doctorate there in 1912 under Kazimierz Twardowski . In 1921 he completed his habilitation in Warsaw and then worked as a private lecturer at Lviv University (1922–1925) and at the University of Warsaw (1925–1928). In 1928 he became a professor in Lviv , where he also experienced the Second World War. In 1945 he became a professor at the University of Poznan and from 1948 to 1952 its rector. He headed the logic sector at the Polish Institute for Philosophy and Sociology and was editor-in-chief of the journal Studia logica from 1953 . He brought many novel ideas into formal logic , linguistics ( categorical grammar ), scientific methodology, and theory of teaching.
