Kazimierz Ostrowski
Kazimierz Ostrowski (born February 14, 1917 in Berlin ; † July 12, 1999 in Gdynia , Poland ) was a Polish painter.
In 1920 Kazimierz Ostrowski returned to Poznan with his family . In 1934 he went to Gdynia with his older brother Zygmunt. There they both painted signs and ship names, including on the Kosciuszko and the Batory . After the war ended in 1945, Kazimierz, together with his father and two brothers, made street signs and signs on buildings in Gdynia. In the same year he began his studies at the Art School in Sopot . In 1949 he received a grant from the French government to study in Paris . He began an apprenticeship in a studio with the famous French painter Fernand Léger . In 1950 he returned to Gdynia and married Halina Krywald, with whom he had two children. From 1964 to 1987 he was a lecturer in the field of easel painting at the Art College in Gdansk . In October 1981 he received the title of associate professor.
Kazimierz Ostrowski took part in around 60 individual and joint exhibitions and received numerous awards. He died on July 12, 1999 in his home and place of work in Gdynia at Abrahama Street 62. On October 26, 2006, a bronze plaque was unveiled on the facade of the house.

- 1959 - Artistic award from the city of Gdynia
- 1970 - Golden Cross of Merit of the Republic of Poland
- 1974 - Mayor's medal for a keen interest and participation in the development of Gdynia
- 1974 - Award from the mayor of Gdynia for all artistic work
- 1976 - Medal from the mayor for the 50th birthday of the city of Gdynia
- 1982 - 1st degree award from the Minister of Culture of Poland
- 1985 - 1st degree award from the Rector of the Art School (PWSSP) in Gdansk
- 1988 - Order of Polonia Restituta (Oficerski)
- 1991 - Award from the Mayor of Gdańsk as a special educator
- 1995 - Artistic award from the mayor of Gdynia
