Act
Kazuaki Morita, born on November 27, 1965 in the Japanese prefecture of Fukuoka, taught himself his programming skills. He was employed by Systems Research & Development, which began programming games for the Japanese video game company Nintendo in the early 1980s . The first game with Morita's participation was the 1985 NES version of Ice Climber , which he himself described as a warm-up for the NES.
Then Morita was involved in the technical implementation of Super Mario Bros. and also contributed creatively to the game by creating the type of opponent "Hammer Brother". He then worked on other Super Mario games and also programmed games in the The Legend of Zelda series . When he began experimenting with the Game Boy in 1991, development of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening began . Morita, who described himself as a big angel fan, built a fishing mini-game into this game, which has since appeared in many other Zelda games.
In the mid-1990s, 3D graphics sprouted. The first 3D game Morita helped develop was Star Fox 64 , which gave him experience with 3D games. In the following years Morita was mainly used as a senior programmer. He is also a board member at SRD and manager of the EAD branch in Kyoto.
