The Keating massif is a rugged, mainly icy, 20 km long and up to 2370 m high mountain massif in the Antarctic Ross Dependency . In Churchill Mountains , it rises on the southern edge of the head end of the Byrd Glacier . Mount Fries belongs to this massif and borders the Zeller Glacier in the southwest .
The New Zealand Antarctic Place-Names Committee named it in 2003 after the New Zealand politician and diplomat Colin Keating , who was his country's justice minister from 1997 to 2000 and later ambassador to the United Nations .
