IBC Energie Wasser Chur is the electricity , water , gas energy and heat supply company for the city of Chur in Switzerland .

history

The IBC was created in 1896 when the city of Chur, the former power plant, the gas plant and the water supply as I ndustrial B etriebe the city C hur summarized. Today the IBC is the only cross-network company as a combination of operational organizational units for municipal supply in Graubünden .

Field of activity

The activities of IBC Energie Wasser Chur essentially include the areas of power supply , water supply , gas energy supply, heat supply as well as offers in the field of mobility (natural gas and electric mobility ), association for self-consumption (ZEV) and smart energy .

As an electricity supplier, IBC supplies the city of Chur, Maladers and Haldenstein . In the supply area, four substations and around 200 transformer stations bring the energy to the lower voltage level for distribution to households and businesses. Almost 40,000 people are supplied via the approximately 400 kilometers long distribution network.

The Chur drinking water comes from nearby mountain springs and from the groundwater of the Chur Rhine Valley . The drinking water sources of the city of Chur are in Valbella (Scharmoin), Parpan and on the Mittenberg . On an annual average, the drinking water consists of 80% spring water and 20% groundwater. The IBC maintains six reservoirs with a total capacity of 6.48 million liters. There are around 137 public wells and 720 hydrants in the supply area.

As a gas supplier, IBC supplies people in Chur, Trimmis , Untervaz , Domat / Ems , Landquart and Thusis with gas energy products. The supply network comprises over 110 kilometers of transport and distribution lines.

IBC operates several local heating networks and an anergy network. IBC operates Fernwärme Chur AG together with the Cantonal Hospital of Graubünden and the Graubünden Municipal Association for Waste Disposal (GEVAG). In addition, IBC operates the Domat / Ems AG heat association together with the Domat / Ems community and Rhiienergie.
