Keiko Tsushima

Keiko Tsushima ( Japanese 津 島 恵 子 , Tsushima Keiko ; born Mori Naoko ( 森 直 子 ), born February 7, 1926 in Izuhara (today: Tsushima ), Nagasaki Prefecture ; † August 1, 2012 in Tokyo Prefecture ) was a Japanese actress .

Tsushima was giving dance lessons at the Shōchiku Ofuna film studio when she was discovered for the film. She made her debut appearance in 1947 in the black and white drama Anjō-ke no butōkai . She is best known for her role in Akira Kurosawa's The Seven Samurai (1954). Later, she mainly took on mother and grandmother roles on Japanese television. She died of stomach cancer at the age of 86.
