The Keihin Kyūkō Dentetsu KK ( Japanese 京 浜 急 行 電 鉄 株式会社 , Keihin kyūkō dentetsu Kabushiki kaisha , English Keikyu Corporation ), also known as Keikyū ( 京 急 ) for short in Japan , is the operator of railway lines on the Miura Peninsula based in Minato .

history

The private railway line was founded in 1897 and was called from 1899 "Keihin denki tetsudō kabushiki kaisha" (京 浜 電 気 鉄 道 株式会社). It was the 3rd company in Japan and the first in the Kantō area to operate its trains electrically. In 1948 it adopted its current name.
