location

It is located in the southern part of Buda near the Danube on its western bank in the 11th district.

history

The name Kelenföld most likely comes from the German name Krenfeld (from Kren , Bavarian for horseradish ). This was used in the 18th century. The district has only been officially called Kelenföld since 1847 and is possibly named after Kelen , a Hungarian chief from the 9th century.
