Clarence Buckman

Clarence Bennett Buckman (born April 1, 1851 in Doylestown , Pennsylvania , †  March 1, 1917 in Battle Creek , Michigan ) was an American politician . Between 1903 and 1907 he represented the state of Minnesota in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Clarence Buckman attended public schools in his home country. In 1872 he moved to Minnesota, where he settled in what is now Buckman . In his new home he worked in agriculture and the wood industry. In 1873 he became a justice of the peace.

Politically, Buckman was a member of the Republican Party . Between 1881 and 1883 he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives . From 1887 to 1891 and again between 1899 and 1903 he was a member of the State Senate . In the congressional elections of 1902 he was elected to the United States House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the sixth constituency of Minnesota , where he succeeded Robert P. Morris on March 4, 1903 . After a re-election in 1904, he was able to complete two terms in Congress until March 3, 1907 . For the elections of 1906 he was not nominated by his party for another term.

After serving in the US House of Representatives, Clarence Buckman returned to the wood industry. He was also Deputy US Marshal between 1912 and 1917 . He died in Battle Creek, Michigan in March 1917 and was buried in Little Falls .
