David Minge

David R. Minge (born March 19, 1942 in Clarkfield , Yellow Medicine County , Minnesota ) is an American politician . Between 1993 and 2001 he represented the state of Minnesota in the US House of Representatives .

Career

David Minge attended Worthington High School until 1960 . He then studied at St. Olaf College until 1964 . After a subsequent law degree at the University of Chicago and his admission to the bar in 1967, he began working in his new profession in Minneapolis . Between 1970 and 1977 he lectured in law at the University of Wyoming . He has since been a legal advisor to a congressional subcommittee. From 1977 to 1992 Minge practiced as a lawyer in Montevideo, Minnesota. There he sat on the school board from 1989 to 1992.

Politically, Minge joined the Democratic Party . In the 1992 congressional elections , he was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the second constituency of Minnesota , where he succeeded Vin Weber on January 3, 1993 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four legislative terms in Congress until January 3, 2001 . There he campaigned for environmental protection, among other things.

In 2000, David Minge was defeated by Republican Mark Kennedy . He has served as a judge on the Minnesota Court of Appeals since 2002. Minge is married to Karen Aaker, with whom he has two sons.
