Thomas Michael "Tom" Hagedorn (born November 27, 1943 in Blue Earth , Minnesota ) is an American politician . Between 1975 and 1983 he represented the state of Minnesota in the US House of Representatives .

Career

Tom Hagedorn attended Blue Earth High School until 1961 and then served in the US Navy . After his military service, he worked as a farmer in Watonwan County . He specialized in growing grain and raising livestock. Politically, Hagedorn joined the Republican Party . Between 1971 and 1975 he was a member of the Minnesota House of Representatives . In 1968 and 1972 he was a delegate to regional Republican party conventions in Minnesota. In 1976 and 1980 he took part as a delegate at the Republican National Conventions , at which Gerald Ford and later Ronald Reagan were nominated as presidential candidates.

In the 1974 congressional election, Hagedorn was elected to the US House of Representatives in Washington, DC in the Minnesota Second Constituency . There he took over from Ancher Nelsen on January 3, 1975 . After three re-elections, he was able to complete four consecutive terms in Congress by January 3, 1983 . Before the elections in 1982, he was no longer nominated by his party. His mandate fell to Vin Weber . After his tenure in the US House of Representatives, Tom Hagedorn became President of the Premium Companies . He now lives in Alexandria ( Virginia ).
