Kelly Rickon

Kelly Anne Rickon (born October 27, 1959 in San Diego ) is a former American rower . She won the Olympic silver medal in quadruple sculls in 1984 .

The 1.71 m tall Kelly Rickon started out as a rower, but then switched to the position of helmsman . At the rowing world championships in 1979 she finished sixth with the controlled quadruple scull. In 1980 she was part of the US team for the Olympic Games in Moscow , which was not allowed to compete because of the Olympic boycott . At the World Rowing Championships in 1983 she finished fifth behind the boats from the Soviet Union, the GDR, Bulgaria and Romania with the double foursome.

At the 1984 Olympic Games in Los Angeles , the Soviet Union, the GDR and Bulgaria were not at the start because of their Olympic boycott. In the double fours, Anne Marden , Lisa Rohde , Joan Lind , Virginia Gilder and taxwoman Kelly Rickon represented the United States. The host country's crew won the second heat and received the silver medal in the final behind the Romanians and just ahead of the Danish boat.

After graduating, Rickon worked at Point Loma Nazarene University .
