Ken Matsudaira (松 平 健, Matsudaira Ken , often simply abbreviated to Matsuken , born November 28, 1953 in Toyohashi , Aichi Prefecture ) is a Japanese actor. His real name is Sueshichi Suzuki (鈴木 末 七, Suzuki Sueshichi ).

Life

Matsudaira is best known for his roles in Jidai-geki films, in which he often mimed historical characters. He made his acting debut in the 1970s in the Zatōichi television series. From 1978 to 2003 he played the main role as Tokugawa Yoshimune in the series Abarenbō Shogun . He was also seen in the 1979 NHK series Kusa Moeru as Hōjō Yoshitoki , in 1999 in Genroku Ryoran (a series about the 47 Rōnin ), in 2002 in Toshiie to Matsu and in 2004 in Ōtomo Sōrin - Kokoro no Ōkoku wo Motomete . He also slipped into the role of Musashibō Benkei in Yoshitsune in 2005 .

Matsudaira was most recently seen as Tōyama no Kin-san and in 2006 played alongside Bruno Ganz in the German-Japanese historical drama Ode to Joy .

In addition to acting, Matsudaira occasionally works as a singer. In 2004 it had a big hit. His song "Matsuken Samba II (マ ツ ケ ン サ ン バ II)" stayed in the Oricon charts for more than a year .
