The island of Kasolo , also known as Kennedy Island or Plum Pudding Island , is located in the western province of the Pacific island republic of Solomon Islands , about seven kilometers east of the main island of Ghizo .
In 1943, the future US President John F. Kennedy and his crew stranded on the island after their PT speedboat was sunk by the Japanese destroyer Amagiri .
The island, which is only 75 meters long and 25 meters wide, is uninhabited, but is occasionally visited by motorized rubber dinghies that cruise ships with their passengers leave.
