Kenneth A. Jackson

Kenneth Arthur Jackson (born October 23, 1930 in Connaught , Ontario ) is an American physicist , former university professor and specialist author.

Life

He received his bachelor's and master's degrees from the University of Toronto . His Ph.D. received it from Harvard in 1956 .

From 1956 to 1962 he was a PostDoc and later as Assistant Professor at Harvard, after which he worked at AT&T Bell Laboratories from 1962 to 1989 , where he was head of the Materials Physics Research department from 1967 . In 1989 he became a professor at the University of Arizona ; there he retired in 2004 .

Jackson served as President of the American Association for Crystal Growth from 1970 to 1976 and President of the Materials Research Society from 1976 to 1977 . In 2003 he received the Bruce Chalmers Award from the Minerals, Metals & Materials Society , among others . He has been a Fellow of the American Physical Society since 1988 and was elected a member of the National Academy of Engineering in 2005 .
