Kenneth E. Hagin
Kenneth Erwin Hagin (born August 20, 1917 in McKinney , Texas , † September 19, 2003 ) was a very influential preacher from the United States . He is often regarded as the father of the Word of Faith Movement ( Word of Faith ). Hagin had never studied theology. The charismatic Oral Roberts University awarded him an honorary doctorate in the 1970s.
Life
Hagin was born in McKinney, Texas to Lillie Viola Drake Hagin and Jess Hagin. He married Oretha Rooker, who had two children: One son, Kenneth Hagin Jr. and a daughter, Patricia Harrison (widowed). K. Hagin Jr. is the current pastor of the Rhema Bible Church founded by Hagin Sr. and the President of Kenneth Hagin Ministries. Patricia Harrison is the owner of Harrison House, Oklahoma .

Hagin says he suffered from a congenital heart defect as a child. It was not expected that he would survive his terminal illness. Weakened by the disease, he became bedridden at the age of 15. During a drastic conversion, he reports that he died three times in ten minutes and came back to life. Every time during these transitions he saw the atrocities of Hell.

Two years after his conversion, Hagin gave his first sermon pastoring a small community church in Roland, Texas. Hagin's favorite passage from the Bible was ( Mk 11.23 EU ): “I assure you: If someone says to this mountain: 'Get on, throw yourself into the sea' and has no doubts, but trusts firmly that it will happen, then it will also happen . ”Hagin often said about this passage“ I have quoted this passage so many times that some might think I wrote it, but I didn't, it is holy word and a promise from God. ”Hagin preached for the next twelve years in five different churches in Texas. In 1949 he began to work as a traveling Bible teacher and evangelist. Soon he became a full member of the Full Gospel Business Men's Fellowship International (FGBMFI) founded in 1951. The Hagin Association was founded in 1963 and moved to Tulsa , Oklahoma in 1966. In the same year he also gave his first sermon on the radio. A year later he began to preach regularly on a radio broadcast, which was continued as the Faith Seminar of the Air after his death . Since the founding of Hagins Association, it and the media it manages have grown rapidly.

In 1974 Hagin founded the Rhema Bible Training Center, which today has branches in 37 countries. In 1979 he founded the Prayer and Healing Center , which offers sick people a place to strengthen their faith. In addition to the things mentioned, the Rhema Association supports projects of other Christians worldwide.

He died three days after Hagin fell into a coma with a cardiac arrhythmia . His death sparked an echo in churches around the world. His funeral was even broadcast on the internet .
A controversial legacy
Hagin's successors saw him as a dynamic preacher, teacher and prophet who became known through his sermons "in faith". The core of his teaching is primarily based on the subject of faith and healing.
