Kenneth O. Preston
Kenneth O. Preston (born February 18, 1957 in Mount Savage , Maryland ) is a non-commissioned officer in the United States Army . From January 15, 2004 to February 28, 2011 he was the 13th Sergeant Major of the Army and thus superior of the Corps and a member of the staff of the Chief of Staff of the Army .
Kenneth Preston joined the Army on June 30, 1975 and completed his basic training in Fort Knox , Kentucky . During his career he was stationed at several locations in the United States and Germany, including as a tank commander. He also served as Command Sergeant Major for Combined Joint Task Force 7 in Baghdad , Iraq .
In addition to numerous other awards, including several mission medals, Preston is the recipient of the Bronze Star and the Legion of Merit with bronze oak leaves .
