Kenny Carter

Kenneth-Malcolm "Kenny" Carter (born March 28, 1961 in Halifax ; † May 21, 1986 ibid) was a British speedway driver who died by suicide .

Career

He was already a professional in the British league in Newcastle at the age of 17 and his home club were the Halifax Dukes from 1979 to 1985. He was three times in a Speedway individual world finals and was fifth each, in 1983 he won the Best Pairs World Championship and with Peter Collins the British national speedway team was Carter since 1981 also. In 1984 he became British Speedway Champion with a broken leg.

Kenny Carter was the older brother of Alan Carter , who competed in the motorcycle world championship . Among the trade journalists and experts, Kenny Carter is still considered the best speedway driver in history, who has never become individual world champion. He was married and the father of two children. On May 21, 1986, the avid clay pigeon shooter Carter committed extended suicide by shooting first his wife and then himself with a double-barreled shotgun .
