Simon de Faultrier

Simon de Faultrier (born August 22, 1763 in Metz , † November 24, 1832 ibid) was a French général de brigade of the artillery .

Life

Faultrier came from an old family of officers: his father and grandfather served in the royal army, General François Faultrier de l'Orme was his older brother. Faultrier came to the military academy École d'application de l'artillerie et du génie in his hometown (→ Metz fortress ) as a cadet .

He then came to an artillery regiment and was promoted to lieutenant in 1781 and captain in 1790 . He fought u. a. at Arlon (April 17/18, 1794) and Fleurus (June 26, 1794).

On November 22, 1806 Faultrier was promoted to Général de brigade. After a while, he put down his more administrative duties and returned to active duty. From 1808 he was involved in the Napoleonic Wars in Spain. As a member of the staff of General Pierre Dupont de l'Étang , he took part in the capture of Cordoba (June 8, 1808) and fought off La Coruña (January 16, 1809).

Faultrier retired in 1812 and settled in his hometown. As a staunch supporter of Napoleon, he had for the policy of King Louis XVIII. and his successor Karl X. no interest. He died at the age of 69 on November 24, 1832 in Metz, where he also found his final resting place.
