François Claude Joachim Faultrier de l'Orme , known as François Faultrier de l'Orme (born August 15, 1760 in Metz , † November 7, 1805 near Nördlingen ) was a French general de division of the artillery .

Life

Faultrier de l'Orme came from a family of officers: his father and grandfather served in the royal army, General Simon de Faultrier was his younger brother. He joined the army in 1777 at the age of seventeen and served for the first time in his father's regiment.

He later volunteered to fight in the American War of Independence ; he fought against the British on Saint Domingue and the Antilles . At the beginning of the revolution , Faultrier de l'Orme returned to France and was transferred to the Alpine Army.

When Napoleon was planning his campaign to Egypt in 1799 , Faultrier l'Orme volunteered again. Under the leadership of Jacques-François Menou fought valiantly in the Battle of Abukir (July 25, 1799).

On March 14, 1800 Faultrier de l'Orme was promoted to Général de brigade . After some time on the coast he was transferred to the Rhine Army .

After a forced march to Bavaria, Faultrier de l'Orme fell ill and due to exhaustion, he could not recover. He died at the age of 45 on November 7, 1805 in Nördlingen, where he found his final resting place.
